The Detriments of War

There are many books in favor of peace or against war. Even many books against the war machine. Most of them just assume killing people on purpose is bad. It is. What we need though is a book that proofs how bad it is to us all, even to right winged hawks (except of course those that make money on it and have no scruples about that.)

We need a vision how many generations can be hit by one traumatized soldier coming back. How many other costs come with war, we never seem to include. How many wars that were won, nevertheless become the source of the next one. How those that followed their leaders to war, are often the ones paying the price, even when that war is won.
For if we start to distrust the hawks, all of us, than we might have a way out of the economical war machine that benefits a very few, and hurts millions every year around the globe.

The benefits of peace are bigger than we think. We know there's enough for everyone on the planet. It is only when we allow scarcity rule, damaging restricted ownerships rule above general interests, that we create the next wars ourselves. And it is those that suffer now the most, that will also suffer more from new wars, never the leaders who say "we'll protect you."
Peace is possible, we just need to proof it to those that think in "us and them". The real enemy is not 'them', it is those of us that claim there is a them. Or is that me, making the same mistake?
